WebSurvey@UW - Creating a Question Alias

This document describes question aliases.

A question alias is something that you can use to identify your question without seeing the entire question text. Question aliases are typically the question numbers represented by Q1, Q1A, Q1B etc., or text that will trigger you to remember the question like “name”. Your users will not see the alias, but we recommend that you enter one if you will be analyzing your results with Excel or SPSS. Your question alias will appear in a column in these reports and will make analysis far less tedious.

To add an alias to your question:

  1. Access the question properties screen, either by creating a new question, or editing an existing one.
  2. QuestionAlias

  3. Enter the question alias.
  4. Click the Save button save .
