This Document contains directions on configuring Eudora to Use SMTP Relay Personalities. This should allow someone to setup Eudora to check their departmental email address AND send email through the WiscMail server using a NetID to authenticate.
For Example, if your primary email address is your departmental email address (bucky.badger@department.wisc.edu), and your WiscMail address is bbadger@wisc.edu, but you don't check this email account. The only way to send message with SMTPAuth is to authenticate with your WiscMail account information. Most email clients allow you to specify an alternative username to send mail; Eudora does not.
In Eudora, it is still possible to set this up, but it is not an intuitive solution. The following directions will walk you through this process:
Eudora Best Effort Only |
NOTE: Eudora is no longer available for download through DoIT. The Help Desk provides best effort support for Eudora only. Users of Eudora are strongly encouraged to migrate to a new email client.
For help migrating from Eudora to a new email client, please see WiscMail - Migrating from Eudora to a New Client. |
These directions assume that Eudora is already set up to check your departmental email correctly.
Change the following settings on this screen:
It is probably a good idea to send yourself a test message to make sure this is set up correctly.
When you send a message, you should see a "Enter Password" screen. Type in your WiscMail accounts password to send messages (not your Departmental Email accounts password).
