WiscCal (Win) - Oracle Calendar Native/Desktop Client Installation


This document provides information on the Oracle Calendar desktop client for Windows.

Important: Even though this version of Oracle Calendar is not yet fully supported for Windows 7 by Oracle, we have been successful in installing and using this version within Windows 7.

    Note: Full certification on Windows Vista has been completed.

  • Windows XP Home or Professional

    Note: Windows XP Service Pack 1 is required, but Oracle recommends Windows XP latest Service Pack.

  • Windows 2000

    Note: Oracle recommends Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.

Installing Oracle Calendar Desktop Client for Windows

Note: If you are currently running version 6.x of CorpTime Client for WiscCal, you will need to unintall this app prior to installing this version of Oracle Calendar.

  1. Log in with administrative privileges if you are installing on Windows 2000, XP, or Vista.

    Download the latest version of Windows client.

  2. Run the self-extracting executable and follow the on-screen instructions.

    Note: If you are upgrading from a previous version, you should just accept the default location when installing this version.

Note: After installation is completed, if you had version 6 or earlier installed on your computer, not all program files were removed during the installation of this version. If they exist, delete the following:

Configuring Oracle Calendar Desktop Client for Windows

  1. Locate the application folder (Start | All Programs | Oracle Calendar) and click on the Oracle Calendar icon. The "Sign-In" screen will be displayed.

    Note: If you had a previous version of this application installed, your connection information may already be saved. If so, then the installation is completed, sign in as you have in the past. If not, please follow the instruction below to setup your connection.

  2. Click on the Other button. The "Connection Manager" screen will be displayed.

  4. Click on the New button. The "Connection Editor" screen will be displayed.

  6. Enter the following information:
    Connection Name: WiscCal
    Server: wisccal1.services.wisc.edu
  7. Click on the Lookup button. The "Connection Configuration" screen will be displayed. Make sure Configure at login from user name is selected and click on Configure button.

  9. The "Connection Editor" screen will appear. Click on the OK button to save your configuration information.

  10. The "Connection Manager" screen will be displayed.

  11. Click on WiscCal within the window then click the Make Default button. The "Connection Manager" screen will be displayed.

    Important: If 'Enable Automatic Sign-in' is checked, the client will automatically log into your account when started.

  13. Click on the OK button. The "Sign-In" screen will be displayed.

  15. Enter your NetID and password.
  16. Then click on the Sign-in button.
  17. If you are prompted to create an off-line Agenda, click on the Yes button. This will allow you to view your Address book and work off-line if the WiscCal server is unavailable.
  18. If you are upgrading from a previous version (9.x), you may be prompted to syncronize your offline agenda for the new version of the client. Click on Yes button to syncronize your agendas/contacts.

  20. Oracle Calendar will then begin.
  21. Note: Please make sure to verify your preferences/options (select Tools | Options). New settings may now be available.

Uninstalling Oracle Calendar Desktop Client for Windows

To remove Oracle Calendar desktop client for Windows:

  1. Double-click Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel.

  2. Choose Oracle Calendar and click Add/Remove.
