WiscMail / WiscMail Plus - Setting a Vacation Message


WiscMail / WiscMail Plus has the ability to reply back to incoming emails with a vacation message for those times when you won't be able to reply to emails for an extended period.

Note: If you are subscribed to email lists it would be a good idea to unsubscribe from them during the vacation period, or you could cause a flood of emails to be passed back and forth between the WiscMail server and the Listserver, and you might end up with your email account disabled until you contact the technologist to have it turned back on.

  1. Log into WiscMail | WiscMail Plus web client.
  2. Click on Options.
  3. Selecting the option button
  4. Click on the Vacation Message button.

  6. In the Start vacation notice on: field enter the date that vacation messages should start to be sent. Use the format mm/dd/yyyy.
  7. In the Stop vacation notice on: field enter the date that message vacation messages should stop being sent. Use the format mm/dd/yyyy.
  8. Fill in the Subject: field with an appropriate subject message, such as "I am on vacation from John Doe".
  9. The field labeled: "The following text will be included in your vacation message to internal senders:" should be used for a reply message for other WiscMail users.
  10. The field labeled: "The following text will be included in your vacation message:", this message will be included in all replies during the vacation period.
  11. Click on the Save Changes button.
  12. At this point your vacation message is ready to be implemented. Once implemented, it will take about 20 minutes before the message begins working.
  13. Before the vacation time period you will want to go into the Vacation message window again and put a check in the box labeled: Enable automatic vacation reply to activate the vacation message.

  14. Click on Save Changes button.
