My WebSpace - Directory Navigation

This document explains how to move between directories.

Directory Navigation

There are several tools which allow you to navigate to and from directories within My WebSpace.

The first button of the Navigation Toolbar, "Up" navigation toolbar button, allow you to navigate to the parent directory of the current directory being displayed. Of course, this button is only enabled if this action is available to you because you have read access to the parent directory.

It is also possible to navigate to another directory within your current path using your directory path which is displayed directly above your directory listing. Each directory in the path is hyperlinked such that it will display the directory listing if chosen.

Finally, you may use your bookmarks to jump to your more frequently accessed directories. For more information about bookmarks, refer to My WebSpace - Create and Manage Bookmarks.

To Move Up One Directory

  1. First, determine where in your directory structure you currently are. The gray bar directly above the directory listing displays your current path after the "Directory:" label. The first directory is the top-level directory.
  2. If no other directory name appears after the top-level directory, you are in the highest directory within your current path and the Up button is disabled. If a sub-directory does appear after the top-level directory, clicking the Up button brings you to the parent of the current sub-directory. For example, if your current directory path is:

Directory: /jdoe/ private Info icon   Sharing icon   Lock icon    Add Bookmkark icon

By clicking on "Up", you will be taken to the "/jdoe" directory.

To Move To Another Directory (within your current path)

  1. First, determine where in your directory structure you currently are. The gray bar directly above the directory listing displays your current path after the "Directory:" label. The first directory is the top-level directory.
  2. Clicking on any parent directory (underlined) within the directory path takes you directly to that directory. For example, if your current directory path is:

Directory: / jdoe/ private/ my documents/ docs Info icon   Sharing icon   Lock icon    Add Bookmkark icon

By clicking on "my documents/", you will be taken directly to the "my documents" directory which is a sub-directory of the "jdoe" directory.
