My WebSpace - Event Logging

This document explains File Event Logging.

File Logging

The Logging option in My WebSpace allows you to keep a record of who accesses your files and when they do so.  The current logging status of a file, off or on, can be seen in the file's manage screen.

To turn logging of file access on or off:

This is the file logging drop-down box.
  1. Navigate to the file for which you wish to turn on logging.
  2. Click on the Manage icon for the respective file.
  3. Use the Logging on/off drop-down to turn logging on or off.

The Logging screen displays the history of who has accessed the file for the time period in which Logging is On. Note that a logging history can only be applied to files, not to directories.

To view the logged history of file access:

  1. Navigate to the file for which you wish to view the logs.
  2. Click on the Manage icon for the respective file.
  3. Click on the "Logging is:" link.
  4. You will be presented with an access log that includes: User Name, the Action performed, the Version accessed (if versioning is turned on), the Date and the IP Address of the computer accessing the file.
  5. Once you have finished viewing the log, click the "Back" button to return to the File Management screen.
