My WebSpace - Publishing your Website

This document explains how to publish your website using My WebSpace.

To facilitate your web publishing, when you create your My WebSpace account a web directory is automatically set-up for you. Unlike your private directory, your web directory has public read only access and should be the directory where you keep the files that you want people to be able to access via your website.

Using the Web Interface, you can upload the files you want to share with the world in the web folder.

By default, the server will look for a file called index.html in your web folder and will show this page first. You should give the name “index.html” to the main page for your site, so that visitors can enjoy your site without having to search for the right file. If you do not have a file named "index.html" then a listing of directories and files will be presented to the user.

The default URL of your website will be:

"NetID" should be replaced with your NetID.
